What is CityWatch?
CityWatch is a computerized messaging system with the ability to swiftly inform citizens and businesses of imminent hazards and current issues such as:
Emergency alerts - evacuations, major fires, weather events;
How does it work?
Residents and businesses registered with CityWatch will receive notifications via phone and/or email, providing critical information relative to their area(s) of YARMOUTH TOWN AND MUNICIPALITY.
Who can participate?
CityWatch is available for free to citizens, organizations and businesses located in YARMOUTH TOWN AND MUNICIPALITY.
The following agencies are authorized to send CityWatch notifications:
Town and County RCMP
Town and Municipal Fire Departments
Yarmouth Town & Municipal Emergency Management Office
All Departments of the Town and Municipality
CityWatch is Yarmouth's Information Messaging System delivering information to residents of impending dangerous situations, crime alerts, arrests, missing children, evacuations and informational messages relating to a particular community of YARMOUTH TOWN AND MUNICIPALITY. When necessary, emergency messages from agencies whose information is in the interest of public safety will be sent.
The Notification will be sent out using a recorded voice message to Landlines and Cell phones and a written message to Email. The system is designed to make multiple attempts to connect with lines that are not answered or ring busy. If the call is picked up by an answering machine, the system can be set up to leave or not leave the message based on the nature of the call.
In accordance with Section 485 of the MGA, the personal information collected on this form will only be used by City Watch for mass notification purposes, for the purpose of clarifying the information submitted, for providing updates or seeking further information on this same subject.
